Walton County is within a five hour drive to major cities in the southeast, including Atlanta, Birmingham, Jacksonville, and New Orleans.
Interstate 10 runs through the heart of Walton County, and CSX Transportation runs parellel to the interstate. Barge service is available in Freeport on the Intercoastal Waterway. Commercial air service is less than an hour away at the Okaloosa Regional Airport, and a much larger international airport is under construction about a half-hour away in Bay County. Private aircraft can use the DeFuniak Springs municipal airport.
