Walton County Demographics

Walton County has a land area of approximately 1,058 square miles with about 53,000 residents, and it is projected to grow to about 75,000 residents by 2015. From 2000 until 2006, the county saw a population growth of 28.7% compared to 13.2% for the State of Florida during the same time period.

In 2000, 76% of Walton County's adults were high school graduates with 16.2% having a bachelor's degree or higher.

In 2004, the median household income was $37,350, and the cost of living is typically 10% below the average for the state. In addition to year-round residents, Walton County typically hosts about two million visitors and part-time residents each year.
